Thousands of stickmen. STICKMAN is a durational performative drawing and a movement task for 2 persons that took 130 hours in total.
The project is a continued collaboration between dance artist Taneli Törmä and me, which has evolved since 2013 with various projects.

CONSCIOUS repetitions create momentum for transformation.

As mentioned in one of my other blogposts I tend to underestimate the hardship of repetition.😅
This piece might be the most extreme example of diving into repetitive tasks.
A fair question would be “ if you find repetition so challenging why do it ??”
The answer is:
my experience is that CONSCIOUS repetitions create momentum for transformation.
It’s a simple yet deep practice of alert awareness. By repeating one thing again and again the form and especially the meaning attached to the form perish. And by this chaos a gap is given, offering space to transcend the fixed form so as a new form can evolve.
